Accelerated Academy
Hancock Accelerated Program provides a challenging learning environment with curriculum one grade level above for students with higher academic abilities in reading and math. Our program offers all students, at each grade, enriching instruction to ensure they continue to thrive academically. Our teachers give students opportunities and experiences for advanced student led projects, problem solving, exploration and study. Instruction focuses on developing critical thinking skills and building confidence to help students become lifelong learners.
Goal

Build confident, independent, lifelong learners equipped with the knowledge and ability to thrive in and out of the classroom. Create learning opportunities and experiences that enrich our above level learners instructional experience and provide them with the skills necessary to continue to develop and advance at an accelerated pace which will help students transition to advanced level courses in Junior High and High School.
Mission

Hancock teachers and staff are committed to offering an accelerated program that provides challenging and rigorous instruction for our students achieving at higher academic levels to prepare them for advanced curriculum in Junior High and High School.
Qualifications

Our Hancock team will identify the number of accelerated, above grade level sections. Teachers will assess students ending their 4th quarter to determine either continued placement or new student placement.
Eligibility for acceleration will be determined by several indicators:
- Assessments
- Students’ grades & performance
- Teacher & parent feedback
- Student ambition, motivation & attitude
- Review of appropriate placement will occur as needed through the year
Expectations

Our expert teachers will provide curriculum and instruction one grade level above with a focus in advanced critical thinking and student led research-based projects. Above grade level programs will include rigorous activities and projects to build individual confidence and the ability to work successfully in collaborative peer groups.
Our students will come to school prepared and ambitious. They will commit to completing work on time and putting forth their best effort to be successful.
Our parents will partner with the teacher to support their child’s success and achievement. They will check in nightly with their child and give support as needed.
